Thanks you so much for everything... a trip of a lifetime, your
hospitality & generosity & and very simply 10 of the best
days I’ve ever spent!!
Tara, Vancouver
It is hard to explain what the trip was like... incredible,
fun, GREAT riders and GREAT company, lotz of food, lotz of beer,
just so much of everything but time to keep at it.
Jason, Amarillo
We are two fun seekers who live in Jackson Hole Wyoming and
both work as mountain bike guides. Saying this, our instinct when
we travel is to go it alone and not to take a guide. After meeting
Ray and learning of his great knowledge and understanding of
Copper Canyon we adopted a new style of travel and decided to
enlist him as our guide for a few days. This was instantly a
fantastic idea as we traveled together we learned more, a lot more
than we would have on our own. Ray was open, flexible and very
aware of our needs. Ray's knowledge of the socio-cultural dynamics
of the people of these immense lands, not to mention the miles of
excellent single track he exposed us to, was truly awe inspiring.
Having Ray with us enabled us to find people to watch our vehicle
while we rode to secluded vistas, through timeless Tarahumara
villages and along canyons more immense than that of the Grand
Canyon in the United States. Ray's insight, confidence and relaxed
nature made us feel like we were welcome guests in a land which
seemed like his second home. There is no chance we would have been
able to pick those perfect vistas to look out on, or have found
our way around the myriad of superb varied singletrack in the time
we had, without Ray's guidance. We were truly impressed by the
riding we did and the beauty we were able to be a part of. Rays
ability to customize our trip to the time we had, enabled us to do
some great rides and see some of the best of Copper Canyon. We had
a worth while and very memorable trip.
Lindi and Colin, Jackson Hole
It was great to meet you in September and the trip was probably
the highlight of my year. I appreciate the energy you brought to
hosting us and I hope we can connect on another adventure
sometime. The trip added a lot to our family, too--the kids loved
hearing about the bike adventure, but also about kids we met and
what their life is like compared to ours. I would love to bring
them on a trip sometime when they are older.
Julie & Tim, Salt Lake City
Thanks to the both of you for your hospitality as we made our
trek through El Paso to Copper Canyon and back. I still have a
glow from the vacation. The trip was nothing short of spectacular!
Ray, I couldn't have asked for a better guide. Your knowledge of
the area, people, and trails was immense and truly priceless. This
was certainly one of the most satisfying vacations of my life. I
appreciate that you gently pushed us to do more and more. By the
end that gnarly trail coming down to Creel wasn't so gnarly
anymore (well, it still was pretty gnarly, though). I'm having
some withdrawal from those trails, and from those Quesadillas
(they were awesome!)...I have been showing my friends the photos
of our trip. They can't believe some of the stuff we were on, and
the beauty of the terrain. Thanks again from the three of us. It
was truly a memorable experience.
Ray, San Antonio
It was an incredible trip and when I'm telling my friends about
it, I'm glad to have seen and experienced the Canyon and the
villages. Thanks again for putting the trip together.
Bruce, San Francisco
I am still backing in the afterglow of the trip. For me it
could have not have been any better. Even the day of rain on
Monday was not that big of a drawback. I don't see how we could
have had a better group. We started out as total strangers but
became very good friends right off the bat. By the time we got
back it seemed like we had known each other forever. All my biking
friends that I have talked to are green with envy and I'm already
talking to a few of them about doing another trip with you. Of
course I can stick my chest out like Barney Fife and act pretty
cool and say, "Yeah I just got back from there, been there, done
that and got the t-shirt." Of course I'm telling everyone I
see and on the internet that if they want to go, go with the guy
who started it and knows every Mexican, Tarahumara, expatriate,
rock, bush, trail, quesadilla stand, chicken grill, huarachi
maker, bootlegger, and anything under the Mexican sun that is down
there. It was just amazing and that's what enriched the trip for
me and made it that much more special. It was nothing short of an
adventure which is what I want when I go somewhere. As the saying
goes, and it's really true, "It's not the destination, it's
the journey." Thanks again Ray for a fantastic trip.
Su amigo, Memo, Amarillo
Thurs. am before the kids arrive, where did the time go?? Julie
and I had a blast. Thanks for such a well thought out trip,
balancing harder rides w/easier rides. My students loved the
photos, if they only had money they'd go too. Oh well, planting
seeds is what it's all about. Tomorrow we are having a Mexican
feast w/3 different types of nopales. Thanks again, you're awesome
Ray!
Heather, Hood River
Thanks again for a great trip! I guess making it to Batopilas was a bit of a
stretch for a 5 day trip, but I think the dudes liked it a lot, and
Stu-meister didn't mind resting in the van. Mule supported mesa trip for next time... Thanks again, hope to return to the yearly barranca trip!
